Wishlist

Baphumelele relies on donations to make the difference in the lives of the children, young people and patients who are cared for by the various different projects. Our wish list below gives an idea of the essential items that we need every year to help look after these most vulnerable members of the community:

Wish list for the Fountain of Hope – Work Readiness and Independent Living Program 2013

The Fountain of Hope is preparing its 2013 Work Readiness Program. This aims to giving training to young people who have grown up in Children’s Home or foster care, and who want to find work. As employment opportunities are so rare, they need all the support they can get to ensure they have a chance at firstly getting a job, and then understanding their roles and responsibilities in the workplace so that they can hold the job down. The program covers such topics as identifying suitable work based on skill sets, CV and interview preparation, signing an employment contract, the importance of punctuality and reliability, and so on. Getting these young people into sustainable employment is key to their future and to ensuring that they become a positive influence in their community. We would appreciate any support financially to assist with this program, or through volunteering as facilitators or trainers. For more details please contact Leo at the Fountain of Hope, or Rosie. Many thanks for all your support.

Medical Supplies

Many of our projects care of children, babies and adults who are in some way in need of medical attention. This ranges from a cut or scrape when a child falls over, to providing full hospice care to somebody who is very sick. In each case, the nurses and careworkers use a basic range of medical supplies in addition to the more specialised medicines that need to be bought through a pharmacy including bandages (75/100mm), steristrips, disposable gloves, gauze (100x100x8mm), Micropore (48x3mm), elastoplast strips, cotton wool buds, cotton wool rolls, surgical spirit, aqueous cream and surgical masks. Many thanks indeed for helping – this is a fundamental need for Baphumelele and we would appreciate any support.

GENERAL WISH LIST

We are always in need of the following

Groceries such as maize meal, rice, sugar, samp, pasta and other dry goods as well as fruit and vegetables

Toiletries such as soap, toothpaste, deoderant (both boys and girls!), facecloths and towels

Baby supplies such as nappies (in medium, large, extra large sizes), vaseline, wet wipes and baby food

Household goods such as old furniture, curtains, appliances and TVs (old style very much accepted). Kitchenware such as cutting knives, bread knives and cutlery would also be gratefully received. We also especially need black storage bins and shelving for the Children’s Home so that the children can store their clothes and personal belongings properly

Tools and building materials such as old wood, doors, bricks and kitchen cupboards which can be reused in our new farm project

Please note that this is our basic wish list – further details can be found on each project page. If you would like further information or want to donate something in particular, please do contact Baphumelele – we can always find a good use for absolutely anything!

Many thanks for supporting us in this way.
